Saturday Morning RPG (Limited Physical Release)

Saturday Morning RPG on PS Vita is a love letter to '80s cartoon culture wrapped in a turn-based RPG, and this limited physical release is one of the earliest pieces of Limited Run Games history you can own. As only the second title LRG ever published (number three in their release series), holding this cart feels like holding a company's origin story.
The game itself channels everything from scratch-and-sniff stickers to action figure commercials into a genuinely fun combat system. It was developed by Mighty Rabbit Studios, the same team behind the Limited Run Games label itself, back when the two were basically inseparable. That in-house connection gives this release an authenticity that later LRG titles, produced at much larger scale, simply can't replicate.
Limited to just 2,500 copies worldwide and sold exclusively through the LRG website, this was also the release that introduced their now-famous one-copy-per-platform purchasing policy. It was the wild west of limited physical games, and Saturday Morning RPG helped write the rules. No ESRB rating on the packaging adds another layer of collector intrigue for Vita enthusiasts who know exactly what that means.
The Vita physical library gets smaller and more coveted every year. A production run this low, from this early in the limited release movement, puts Saturday Morning RPG in seriously rarefied air. It's the kind of piece that tells a story about where physical game collecting was heading before most people even noticed.
