Rez (Kanzentousui Set)
Tetsuya Mizuguchi made a game about shooting things to techno music and somehow created art. The Rez Kanzentousui Set on PlayStation 2 is the ultimate expression of that vision, bundling the game with a pair of Rez-themed Tapex Vibphones (model HPV-701), an exclusive Rez/UGA T-shirt, cooling eye patches, a branded wristband designed for holding the trance vibrator, and a set of three stickers designed by Tsuyoshi Kusano. This isn't a collector's edition.
It's a sensory experience in a box. The Vibphones alone make this set legendary, purpose-built headphones themed to one of the most synesthetic games ever made. The cooling eye patches and vibrator wristband hint at an intended play experience that was genuinely ahead of its time, blurring the line between playing a game and inhabiting it.
Rez has only grown in cultural stature since its 2001 release, and the Kanzentousui Set represents the most ambitious physical package the game ever received. Finding one complete, with the Vibphones intact and the T-shirt unfaded, is the kind of hunt that defines a collecting hobby. This is a grail-tier PS2 set, full stop.
