Mortal Kombat Deception Premium Pack
Midway10/3/2004Americas

Mortal Kombat went full RPG with Deception's Konquest mode, and the Premium Pack went full nostalgia trip with an arcade-perfect port of the original MK1. Mortal Kombat: Deception Premium Pack on PlayStation 2 delivers that playable MK1 alongside 25 character video bios with MK team commentary, an in-depth franchise history, and a serialized Kollector's Edition metal trading card. The arcade-perfect MK1 inclusion is the headliner.

This isn't a watered-down emulation or a bonus mini-game. It's the real thing, running on your PS2, complete with the digitized sprites and absurd blood splatter that launched a congressional hearing. The 25 character bios with developer commentary provide insider perspective on how the roster evolved from tournament fighter archetypes into the mythology-heavy cast Deception delivered.

The franchise history feature traces MK's path from controversial arcade cabinet to multimedia empire, which reads differently now than it did in 2004. The serialized metal trading card adds individual collectibility to each copy, and "metal" is doing real work in that sentence. This isn't a flimsy insert card.

For Mortal Kombat completists, the combination of a playable classic, serialized physical collectible, and developer commentary makes this Premium Pack one of the more thoughtfully assembled PS2-era bundles in the fighting game space.
