Limited Run Games

A pug plush, a decoder medallion, and one of the most addictive roguelikes ever made. The Limited Run #221: Spelunky Collector's Edition for the PlayStation Vita is limited to just 1,500 copies worldwide, designed in collaboration with the fine folks at Fangamer, and it shows in every detail.

Spelunky basically invented the modern roguelike platformer. Every run is different, every death teaches you something, and the loop of "just one more attempt" has claimed more hours from collectors than most of us are willing to admit. On the Vita, it became the perfect portable obsession, the kind of game that turned commutes into dungeon runs and lunch breaks into boss attempts.

The Collector's Edition goes deep. You get the game on a physical Vita cartridge, which is already a win for handheld preservation. The Damsel dog pug plush is absurdly charming. The metal Spelunky decoder medallion doubles as a bookmark, blending form and function in a way that feels very Fangamer. The explorer's journal is filled with unique art and content that rewards the kind of player who wants to live inside this world. And the physical soundtrack CD rounds it out. At 1,500 copies, this is one of the smaller Limited Run print runs, and Vita collectors already know how fast that platform's physical library is drying up. If you see one, you grab it. That's just how Spelunky works, in the caves and on the shelf.
