Limited Run #197: Battle Chef Brigade Brigadier Edition (PS4)
Limited Run Games

Cooking competitions and RPG combat shouldn't work together, but Battle Chef Brigade made it look effortless. Limited Run #197: Battle Chef Brigade Brigadier Edition for PS4 is the collector's package this gem deserved, limited to just 1,300 copies worldwide on a region-free physical disc.

The Brigadier Edition is stacked. A foil box houses the whole set, giving it an immediate visual pop that standard editions can't touch. Inside you get the physical game sealed in a standard case with art, plus an official SteelBook case for those of us who display our favorites in metal. The apron with metallic gold ink logo is the kind of extra that separates a good collector's edition from a great one. It's functional, it's weird, and it's completely on-brand for a game about combat chefs. Round that out with a huge poster and a soundtrack CD, and you've got a package that justifies every inch of shelf space it claims.

At 1,300 copies, this is firmly in the limited territory that makes collectors nervous in the best way. Battle Chef Brigade has a dedicated fanbase that discovered it through word of mouth, and those tend to be the communities that drive secondary market demand years after release. The combination of a genuinely excellent indie game, a tight print run, and a Brigadier Edition loaded with quality extras makes this one of the more underrated Limited Run PS4 releases. The kind of thing that shows up on "hidden gems" lists a few years from now.
