EARTHWORM JIM 1+2 (25TH ANNIVERSARY EDITION) - LEGACY CARTRIDGE COLLECTION
Iam8bitPrint: 2000

Two worms, one cartridge, zero excuses not to own this. The Earthworm Jim 1+2 25th Anniversary Edition Legacy Cartridge Collection for SNES packs both games onto a single brand-new playable combo-cart, limited to 2,000 copies. That's two of the weirdest, most inventive platformers of the 16-bit era crammed into one piece of silicon, and honestly, that alone would be enough.

But the specialty fold-out foil box with gloss and embellishments elevates this into serious display territory. The premium instruction booklet comes with a "Mystery Foreword," which is such a perfectly Earthworm Jim thing to do that it borders on performance art. Retro pack-in surprises are tucked inside because this is a Legacy Cartridge Collection, and Jango Snow Art & Design doesn't do things halfway.

Manufacturing by Retrotainment Games and Infinite NES Lives means the cartridge is built to the same exacting standards collectors expect from this line. Earthworm Jim was the game that proved you could be absurd and brilliant at the same time. A cow-launching, plasma-whipping annelid in a super suit shouldn't work, but it did.

Getting both titles on one SNES cart, in a run this limited, is the kind of thing that makes 25th anniversaries worth celebrating.
