DeathSmiles II Limited Edition
Cave did it again. The DeathSmiles II Limited Edition on Xbox 360 pairs the sequel to one of the most beloved gothic bullet hell shooters with a soundtrack CD, and for fans of the genre, that's a potent combination. DeathSmiles II pushed Cave's signature formula further, adding new characters, new stages, and a visual overhaul that leaned even harder into the series' distinctive aesthetic.
The soundtrack CD is a collector's piece in its own right. Cave's composers have a reputation for creating music that's simultaneously chaotic and melodic, perfectly mirroring the organized insanity happening on screen. Having that on a physical disc, separate from the game, gives it a life beyond the console.
The 360 became an unexpected home for Japanese shmups during its generation, and the DeathSmiles series represents some of the best that niche had to offer. Limited Edition variants of these titles had small production runs because the audience was small but fiercely dedicated. That's the kind of collector math that works in your favor over time.
Fewer copies made, same level of demand, and a genre community that never stops looking. If you already own the first DeathSmiles Limited Edition, leaving the sequel out of your collection would be a genuine crime against shelf symmetry.
