City of Heroes Collector's Edition

Before City of Villains flipped the script, there was the original. The City of Heroes Collector's Edition on PC celebrates the MMO that let an entire generation of players finally become the superheroes they'd been sketching in notebook margins since childhood.

The physical goods here are excellent. A limited-edition Statesman HeroClix figure anchors the collection, and for tabletop crossover fans, that's a genuine get. You also receive a 16-page PVP online mini-comic, a fold-out Paragon City map, a City of Villains poster, a 32-page booklet, an excerpt from the City of Heroes novel "The Web of Arachnos," winning entries from the City of Heroes Film Festival, and preview trailers. The in-game exclusives included a translucent cape and a badge.

The breadth of content here reflects a game that was building a world, not just shipping a product. NCsoft and Cryptic Studios poured community spirit into this box. The Film Festival winners, the novel excerpt, the mini-comic. It all points to a game that thrived on its players' creativity. With the official servers long gone, these physical pieces are what remain. The Statesman HeroClix figure and that Paragon City map carry real sentimental weight for anyone who patrolled those streets.
