Sometimes the special edition is the gateway drug. The Assassin's Creed: Revelations Special Edition on Xbox 360 wraps the game in exclusive packaging alongside an original game soundtrack and a solid block of in-game content that actually matters. You get the Turkish Assassin Armour, which looks fantastic in Constantinople's streets, plus two additional multiplayer characters: The Crusader and a Constantinople-flavored rework of the Ottoman Doctor from Brotherhood.

That last detail is the kind of deep-cut fan service that Ubisoft used to be great at. Taking a familiar Brotherhood character and reimagining them for Revelations' Ottoman setting shows genuine creative effort, not just a palette swap. The soundtrack is a nice bonus for anyone who appreciates Jesper Kyd's atmospheric work on the series.

The exclusive packaging gives your shelf a slightly different silhouette from the standard release, which matters when you're lining up an entire Assassin's Creed 360 collection side by side. This sits in the sweet spot of mid-gen special editions. It's not trying to sell you a statue or a replica blade.

It's enhancing the core experience with content and presentation that feels considered rather than bloated. For collectors building out the complete Revelations lineup on 360, the Special Edition is a clean, essential pickup.
